James Buckley has joked that he will take his sons to a brothel on a family trip to Japan that has been planned for years.

The Inbetweeners star, 36, is father to Harrison, 11, and Jude, nine, with his wife Clair Meek, 35, whom he married in 2012.

The actor and his partner chatted about their future travel plans on their podcast “In Sickness and In Health.”

James said: “Me and the boys have always said about this trip from the Buckley boys that we’re going to Japan because we love video games, technology and stuff like that.”

“We’re going to Tokyo and that’s something we always said we wanted to do.”

Clair, who apparently has no interest in going, insisted she would be happy to stay home with the couple’s Rottweiler.

She said, ‘That’s fine, I’ll stick with Paisley.’ When is that?’

James said, “You have to…”

“15, 16?” Clair suggested.

James replied, “Yeah, I think that would be a good age for the brothels.”

Clair laughed in shock and said, “Damn, you’re an idiot. I’ve lost my train of thought now.”

Laughing, James said, “Hey, it’s a father-son tradition.”

Elsewhere during the podcast, the pair recalled one of James’ worst speeches to Clair in the early days of their relationship.

James said: “We were sitting in a car and a lorry drove past and I felt a pause in the conversation and said: ‘Lots of money in logistics.’

Clair replied, “I was like, ‘Huh?’ “I didn’t see the truck.”

James said: “I thought, ‘I don’t want the conversation to die.’ I carried on. When I was putting in kitchens and things like that, I knew people who owned truck companies. “I knew people who owned logistics companies and they were all wealthy.”

He added: “It must have worked because you are still here.”

“Yes,” Clair said. “The first thing you said to me when we talked was that you were “tweeting” me, and I had never heard that before. As far as I know it is not a Scottish word. Is it just old fashioned?’

“That could be the case,” said James, “it’s been slang for a good six months in human history.” I was just joking though, I was being funny. Do you remember I used to be funny?’

James is best known for his role as Jay Cartwright in the E4 sitcom The Inbetweeners.

He recently appeared in the play 2:22 A Ghost Story and has also appeared in films such as The Pyramid and The Comedian’s Guide to Survival.
