Jane Fonda announces her cancer is in remission

American actress and activist Jane Fonda announced on Friday that her diagnosed cancer was in remission and that she could discontinue her chemotherapy.

“I feel so lucky (…). I’m even happier that my first four chemo treatments were pretty easy with just a few days of fatigue, but the last chemo session was tough,” the 84-year-old Oscar winner said in a post entitled “The Best of Birthday Gifts” on his website.

In September, the activist, who is close to the Democratic Party, announced that she had lymphoma, but remained optimistic about her chances of recovery and used her notoriety to denounce inequalities in access to medical care in the United States.

During the months she battled the disease, Jane Fonda said she continued her activist work.

She mobilized against a piece of legislation by Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin that aims to develop production of all forms of energy, including fossil fuels, in the United States and would greenlight a controversial gas pipeline in his state of West Virginia.

Jane Fonda’s career began in the 1960s and was crowned with two Best Actress Oscars, in 1971 for Alan J. Pakula’s Klute and in 1978 for Hal Ashby’s The Return. She has also been nominated five more times for America’s most prestigious cinema awards.

The actress is still pursuing her career, notably lending her voice to the animated family film Happiness, which was recently released on Apple TV+.

His career had many other facets. An aerobics star, she is also known for her peaceful activism at the time of the Vietnam War and then to this day for the environment and the fight against climate change.
