Jansen was just in his zone when he came to bat, he driving in five heats. First, he let Canada’s only major league baseball team take the lead with a single that sent teammate Tommy Pham home in the second inning.
The 27-year-old then added two more RBIs a faceoff later. His double allowed Teoscar Hernandez and Raimel Tapia to circle the trails.
Jansen also hit a solo homer in the fifth and a sacrifice fly in the eighth to add two more hits to his record. Note that it was the 15th time this season that he kicked the ball wide. Hernandez also stretched out his arms in the win.
Elsewhere, Montreal’s Otto Lopez used the Blue Jays’ seventh round to score his first hit of 2022. It was his first plate appearance of the season and the sixth time he was used in a game.
As for Stripling (10-4), the Jays shooter gave just four shots to safety and passed three gloved rivals in six innings of work. Anthony Bass, David Phelps, Jordan Romano and Adam Cimber were relieved to continue the starter’s excellent job that allowed manager John Schneider’s club to knock out the Red Sox in their second straight game.
The Blue Jays will be looking to sweep their three-game streak against Boston on Sunday. The Toronto team will then wrap up their regular season with three games against the Orioles in Baltimore.
