A U.S.-bound Japanese airline ANA flight was forced to return to landing in Tokyo after a drunken passenger bit a flight attendant, the company reported Wednesday.
The traveler, described in the media as a 55-year-old American, bit a crew member on the arm and slightly injured her while he was “completely drunk,” an All Nippon Airways spokesman told AFP.
The incident prompted the pilots of the plane, which was carrying 159 people, to turn back across the Pacific Ocean to Haneda Airport in the Japanese capital, where the person was handed over to police forces, according to ANA.
According to Japanese broadcaster TBS, the arrested passenger told investigators that he “did not remember his behavior at all.”
Several Internet users on social networks compared the episode to the “beginning of a zombie movie.”
