Japan shows support for Vietnam on development goals

Tokyo will promote cooperation in the areas of green and digital transformation and response to climate change and encourage Japanese companies to continue investing in Vietnam, the head of Japanese diplomacy stressed at a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Yoko also pointed out that his government prioritizes promoting cooperation in human resources training, and expressed the desire of both parties to cooperate in the construction of the Vietnam-Japan University, which would become a symbolic project in binational relations.

For his part, Minh Chinh suggested that Japan should support his country in building an independent and autonomous economy, implementing industrialization and modernization, and continuing to provide official development assistance for major strategic infrastructure projects.

The Foreign Minister of Japan paid a short working visit here the day before, during which she also spoke with Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong and member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and head of the Foreign Affairs Commission, Le Hoai Trung.

He also held official talks with his counterpart Bui Thanh Son, who called on Japanese companies to help Vietnamese partners participate more in the global value chain, according to the VNA news agency.

Thanh Son also called on Tokyo to simplify visa issuance procedures for Vietnamese citizens, issue long-term visas (five to 10 years) for nationals who have entered Japan on various occasions without violating the laws, and step by step to proceed to visa exemption.

Japan views Vietnam as an important market and partner with great potential and hopes to further improve its investment environment, Yoko confirmed at the meeting, suggesting increased cooperation in new areas such as digital transformation, green energy and skilled workforce training. .

During the discussions, both foreign ministers discussed what they saw as the outstanding achievements of bilateral relations over the last 50 years and also discussed guidelines for further promoting these relations.
