Forward Jason Dickinson scored three goals to help the Chicago Blackhawks defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime on Friday afternoon at the United Center.
The 28-year-old center scored one goal in regulation time, including two in a row to force overtime. It was the first time in 379 National Hockey League games that Dickinson scored a hat trick.

However, it was Kevin Korchinski who ended the debate in overtime. The 19-year-old took advantage of a rebound created by a powerful shot from Connor Bedard.
For the Maple Leafs, William Nylander didn’t tarnish the record. This ended his impressive run of games with at least one point at the start of the season. The forward has 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points in his first 17 games in 2023-2024. That’s a franchise record.
The Queen City club’s goal scorers against the Hawks were Calle Jarnkrok, Ryan Reaves and Nick Robertson.
Still no Perry
This game was also the second missed by Blackhawks forward Corey Perry, who is uninjured. The veteran was not present at the duel against the Blue Jackets in Columbus last Wednesday and was also conspicuous by his absence from training the next day.
Before the game against the Leafs, head coach Luke Richardson reiterated that he was “unable to comment at this time.” The person whose comments were reported by the Chicago Sun-Times added that the organization wanted to keep this situation internal and hoped to provide an update soon.
The Blackhawks will return to action on Sunday when the St. Louis Blues visit the United Center.
