Jason Sudeikis files new custody battle with ex Olivia Wilde

Jason Sudeikis is prolonging his fight with ex Olivia Wilde over attempts to “sue her in debt,” she claimed in new court filings, has found out.

“While Jason can afford to let his wheels spin filing back-to-back, Olivia cannot,” her attorneys wrote ahead of a hearing scheduled for today in Los Angeles, which has now been canceled.

“Jason seems determined to throw whatever he can against the wall to see what sticks, and this motion for an order seeking a stay of California’s parenthood lawsuit is just the latest example,” they add added.

She accused him of acting “underhand” and “in bad faith” in relation to the future of their two children.

Friday’s hearing should conclude whether California courts should decide the feuding couple’s dispute over children Otis, eight, and Daisy, six, or whether New York is the appropriate place. But on Thursday, a New York judge denied Sudeikis’ request to move the case to the East Coast.

Olivia, 39, says the matter is already settled and it should be in LA but the Ted Lasso star is “veiling” his desire to hold future hearings in Brooklyn.

“Jason should not be allowed to put Olivia in debt through litigation and then demand that she be deprived of her right to demand a fee contribution from him as needed,” her attorneys write.

Sudeikis, 47, filed a new motion to stop a California order ruling that her children live in the Golden State, giving him time to appeal in New York after a judge ruled against his request last year had that the children should live in the Golden State east coast.

According to TMZ, a judge in New York denied his request to move the case to New York on Thursday, which was a big win for Olivia.

Olivia claims the kids live in California and have no reason to move, noting that daughter Daisy never went to school in New York and Otis only attended one semester of kindergarten in New York in 2019.

Her attorneys claim, “While the details of Jason’s finances are currently unknown due to his refusal to act on fundamental discoveries, she is aware that he is far wealthier than her.”

Olivia claims in her statement that she believed things were moving towards a more amicable resolution earlier this year, but was caught off guard when she learned of Jason’s legal tactics.

“We were supposed to be working with a family therapist in California in mid-January. I thought things would settle down and move forward in a more friendly and respectful way,” says Olivia.

“Instead, on January 10, 2023, I found out that I was negotiating the parental leave plan in California the entire time [Jason] planned to proceed with the New York child support case behind my back.

“Apparently he had learned that the court date for our first appearance was January 4, 2023 and deliberately failed to advise me of this, nor did his attorney my attorneys. Since I did not know the date, neither I nor my lawyers showed up.

‘[Jason’s] Sneakyness and guile in these procedures is astounding. I’m completely baffled as to why he thinks intimidation or trickery would serve him or our children.’

The two sparked speculation they were on course for a reunion in January when they were spotted together in Los Angeles, but recent legal battles suggest otherwise.

The ex-boyfriends have been locked in a nasty custody battle on both coasts for the past few years — due in large part to the fact that Olivia lives in LA and Jason lives in New York City — which caused major controversy when the actress was served with the custody papers on stage in front of 4,000 industry insiders.

But Wilde says even that isn’t entirely true, and Sudeiki’s sisters now live in the Brooklyn home they own, and Jason only stays with them when he’s in town.

Following their split in 2020, Olivia and Jason initially appeared to be very much on the same page and were warm towards one another, with their children first.

Olivia then met Harry Styles at a party for Irving Azoff. It was around this time that production began on Olivia’s directorial debut, Don’t Worry Darling, in which she also starred.

The drama offset took center stage as Olivia got into a blowout match with lead actor Shia LaBouf. After his exit, Olivia replaced him with Harry, who had previously had few acting roles.

In January 2021, rumors that Olivia and Harry were more than just friends and co-stars were confirmed when they were spotted holding hands in public. Harry then solidified the situation by referring to her as his “girlfriend”.

Shortly after, her affectionate co-parenting with Jason turned ugly. In April 2022, Olivia was served with legal custody documents for Otis and Daisy while giving a speech about her latest film, Don’t Worry Darling.

In August 2022, Olivia responded to Jason’s request. In court documents obtained by , she said she and Jason previously agreed to let the kids finish the school year in LA while he filmed Ted Lasso.

“Recently, however, Jason decided that he wanted to go to New York for the next year while he was not working and wanted the kids to be with him during that time,” Olivia said in the documents. “When I didn’t agree, as the kids haven’t lived in New York for several years, Jason submitted those papers.”

Things got even uglier when a process server never left a stage at CinemaCon, handing Olivia court papers while she spoke to film executives.

“Jason’s actions were clearly aimed at threatening me and catching me off guard,” she said of serving.

“He could have served me discreetly, but instead he chose to serve me in the most aggressive way. The fact that Jason is embarrassing me professionally and publicly displaying our personal conflict in this way is extremely contrary to the best interests of our children.”

Jason later responded and apologized to Olivia, saying he was “very, very sorry” and that he “deeply regretted the way she was served.” His response explained the reason for his challenge to the previously agreed custody agreement for the children.

“First, Olivia said if I didn’t live in Los Angeles full-time, she would allow me to spend time with Otis and Daisy on weekends and during vacations — thereby denying me my right to raise the kids at important times in their life.” ‘

He also explained that Olivia had let him know that she might want to take the kids to London, where she planned to move during the height of her romance with Harry.
