Jason Sudeikis “had no prior knowledge” that his former fiancé, Olivia Wilde, would be served with custody documents during her CinemaCon performance, a source told Variety.
“Papers have been drawn up to establish jurisdiction over Ms. Wilde and Mr. Sudeikis’ children,” the source said. “Mr. Sudeikis had no prior knowledge of the time or place the envelope would have been delivered, as that would be solely a matter for the process service company involved, and he would never allow it to be delivered to her in such an inappropriate manner.”
More of diversity
On Tuesday, as Wilde was presenting the trailer for her new film, Don’t Worry Darling, at the Film Exhibitors’ Conference, someone in front of the stage slipped her a mysterious Manila envelope labeled “Personal and Confidential.” At first, viewers thought the envelope was a script by someone trying to get the Booksmart director’s attention – but Deadline reported Wednesday afternoon that the envelope contained Sudeikis’ custody documents.

Variety spoke to several eyewitnesses who said the person who served Wilde the envelope was credited to CinemaCon. Wilde representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
In response to the incident, CinemaCon said in a statement that it was “re-evaluating” its security protocols.
“To protect the integrity of our studio partners and the talent, we will be re-evaluating our security protocols,” NATO executive director and director of CinemaCon Mitch Neuhauser told Variety. “We will act accordingly because it is the right thing to do. We want to do the safe and right thing.”
The story goes on
Wilde and Sudeikis were previously engaged but ended their romantic relationship in 2020. They share two children. Wilde is now dating pop star Harry Styles, one of the leads on Don’t Worry Darling.
The clip from Don’t Worry Darling caused a stir at CinemaCon for showing Styles and co-star Florence Pugh engaging in sexual acts at a dining table. Though she opened the envelope onstage, Wilde didn’t flinch during her presentation, continuing to tell the audience that her film is “a love letter to films that push the boundaries of our imagination.”
