This was announced by San Diego Studio, the company that produces the game annually.

Choosing Chisholm’s son clashes with previous selections as he is a promising young player. Typically, more established athletes—and often MVP winners—are featured. This was particularly true of Shohei Ohtani (2022), Josh Donaldson (2015), and Dustin Pedroia (2009).

“Baseball has been in a culture war for a number of years,” said Chisholm Jr., whose comments were reported by Sports Illustrated.

“I think it’s a way of showing that our culture is different now,” he added.

Chisholm Jr. made it clear that he wanted to help change baseball’s reputation, which many would consider obsolete.

“I want people to treat baseball the way they treat basketball or football because I’ve always loved baseball.”

“It’s like watching Ja Morant in the NBA. You want to see him! He makes sure the show is fun for everyone. That’s what I want to be.”

Last year, in his third season, Chisholm Jr. was invited to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game for the first time in his career. He maintained a .254 batting average in 60 games during the 2022 campaign. He hit 54 hits, including 14 home runs.
