At peace with his grief
A year after the death of his famous father, Jean-Marie Lapointe says he is satisfied with the death of the man whom he accompanied to his final rest during three years of illness.
“I would say it’s like gentle sadness. Nothing heavy. I took the time to write a text for Dad to honor him on my social networks and in which I say that, strangely enough, it is not too difficult to live without his physical presence, because not a day goes by, without anyone talking to him. “I found out more about him,” the moderator admits to the Journal.
He explains that talking to people about his father every day has helped and continues to help him. “It makes me feel good. “Don’t stop talking about a missing loved one, it helps us keep them alive,” emphasizes the one who, this year without him, has found comfort in this support from the public and his family.
In addition to publishing his written tribute and commemorative photos on his networks, Jean-Marie Lapointe will attend a mass with his family in church on Saturday to celebrate this first anniversary.
Relatives and friends will then gather in his honor at the home of Mercédès Vincent-Lapointe, wife of Jean Lapointe until his death.
“Mercedes is doing well despite everything. She continues to make progress with her family members and us. She retains a great joy for life,” confesses the author, who will be at the Montreal Book Fair on Saturday, November 25th and Sunday, November 26th.
