Before the start of the sixth season of La vérité nature, Jean-Philippe Dion wanted to create a special moment by re-inviting artists who had already come to spend a weekend at the chalet. The Christmas-themed show made for a happy reunion.

Like last year with “Au chalet pour Noël”, “La vérité nature” slips into festive clothing for a 90-minute special broadcast. But this year Jean-Philippe Dion wanted to offer something different. “I wanted to invite people back to the chalet for the first time five years later to see where they are. The core consists of Lise Dion, José Gaudet and Katherine Levac, three comedians who met at three very different points in their careers. The show was filmed long before the health problems Lise recently experienced.
To kick off True Nature: At the Chalet at Christmas, the production released excerpts from their first appearance on the show, and Jean-Philippe then analyzed with them the journey they had taken since becoming intimate. Did they achieve their dreams or goals? “It's really fun to do this exercise. We come back to the end of Lise Dion's tour. A few years ago, José Gaudet created a clean slate to start better elsewhere. Katherine Levac, who gave up performing to have children, is preparing for the launch of her new show. So these are three different moments in life, but it’s interesting to hear everyone’s perspective on their journeys.”
A BIG WHOLE
Over the course of the evening, numerous guests will join the core trio. “We have added two notable guests from The True Nature,
namely France Castel and Pilou. France sings without common sense as if she were in a bar in the mid-1980s. She is extraordinary! At the end of the evening we had a lot of fun.”
The next morning, as a surprise, more guests join the late-nighters for brunch. “We invited one of the most memorable trios for me, Janette Bertrand, Michel Rivard and Debbie Lynch-White. The weekend with them was special because Michel had told his stories like never before, even he was surprised by everything he told us. The meeting between Janette and Debbie, two strong women who complemented and understood each other, was important. The three have also become friends; Janette invited her to events at her house.”
The production team also had a surprise for Janette by preparing all the dishes that she loves and cooks when entertaining her family during the holidays. “Michel Rivard, of course, sang December 23rd from Beau Dommage. There were really a lot of people in the chalet this weekend. It's a big show. And there is also Luc Senay, who makes a surprise appearance during the day because José Gaudet confesses that he hates Christmas carols while Luc loves them. When he was young, he would even walk around his neighborhood with his friends or parents singing songs.
The filming of the show “Real Nature: At the Cottage for Christmas” went so well that the team is preparing to film a special Christmas show for next year. “I'll still be inviting a trio of notable people and several others to the party.”
The special “True Nature: At the Cottage for Christmas” airs Monday, December 18 at 7:30 p.m. on TVA.
