Jeanick Fournier's life was changed by a powerful television moment – Le Journal de Montréal

Seeing the great success that Jeanick Fournier has achieved for more than a year and feeling all her passion for singing and her energy on stage, one cannot be surprised to learn that she used meetings as a child – They devote themselves to music as a way to sustain themselves artistically and to emulate the many women who have fascinated them.

Jeanick, which children's programs impressed you?

Bobino. The sentence that comes to mind is: “Name of a Bobinette!” » My mother told me that when I was very small she called out to me – I couldn't walk yet, I was crawling: “Jeanick, Jeanick, here is Bobino!” » and I came on all fours to see this show. And then there was Passe-Partout, which I really liked.

And a little older?

As a teenager, I wasn't Watatatow; I was more interested in music videos. In the evenings I listened to a lot of MusiquePlus and variety shows. The world of music and watching live performances fascinated me. I listened to Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Céline, Lara Fabian, Marie Denise Pelletier, Marie Carmen… Female singers have always inspired me. I watched them and that's how I took my lessons. Dude, when I was dreaming about singing in front of the mirror with my hairbrush in the living room and in my bedroom, I said to myself, “They move like that, they breathe like that, maybe they're looking for the sound,” stuff like that. » I learned to sing this way, I didn't take any lessons.

What are your favorite TV memories?

One of the moments that changed my life was when Céline went on Michel Jasmin's show and he presented her Ce n'tait que un rêve. I will remember this moment for the rest of my life. I sat in front of the TV with my parents and started crying. I said, “I, mom, one day I would like to sing like that.” »

Did you watch a lot of TV when you were young?

NO. Most of our time listening to it was Christmas movies and Nordiques hockey games with the family. We watched the news with my father. It was very important; You had to be very quiet (laughs).

Is there another song from a show that sticks in your mind?

You are my one night stand. It's what goes to my heart first. And this from the Garden Party series. In high school we did shows. I was in a dance group, started singing, there was improvisation and we did a little sketch with Garden Party. It was fun!

Jeanick Fournier recently released the song December night performed in a duet with Mario Pelchat. Several concerts are planned for 2024 (jeanickfournier.ca). In January she will fly to Florida, among other places, where she will sing for three days. She is also preparing for a new album, which she would like to present soon. There are also TV appearances and the top performances of an eight-part documentary series expected on Vrai next year.
