French director JeanThomas Renaud, 55, is hospitalized after an accident on the BR262 highway between the Aquidauana and Miranda stretches in the Pantanal region at Santa Casa de Campo Grande in Mato Grosso do Sul.

THE syringesthe hospital reported that the filmmaker is in intensive care, awake, communicative, breathing with the help of a machine and taking medication.

Renaud has undergone laboratory and imaging tests and is currently under the care of the neurosurgery team.

In addition to the director, three other people were victims of the accident that happened yesterday morning involving two vehicles. One of them went off the road and rolled onto the shoulder.

Two of the victims were taken to Aquidauana and the other two, including the French documentary filmmaker, to the Miranda Regional Hospital. He was later transferred.
