Jeff Beck, one of the greatest guitarists of all time, died yesterday at the age of 78 of complications from bacterial meningitis. He is best known for joining the English rock band The Yardbirds in the 1960s.
The statement was released on social media today: “On behalf of his family, it is with deep sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck’s passing. He died yesterday at this great loss after contracting bacterial meningitis.”

- He was ranked fifth on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists;
- He ran The Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Boget & Appice.
In May last year, the guitarist performed with Johnny Depp in the northern English city of Sheffield. The actor has appeared with Beck to perform a number of musical covers including John Lennon’s “Isolation,” a track she collaborated on that was released in 2020.
