Rapper Boosie BadAzz tweeted:

“As black people, we must boycott (the program). What he did to our black children is sick.”

Rita Isbell, the sister of one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims, Errol Lindsey, spoke about the production and said she was never contacted by the filmmakers to ask if she would agree to a copy of her picture.

Jeffrey Dahmer’s mother wanted her brain examined

“When I watched part of the series it bothered me, especially when I saw myself seeing my name on the screen and this lady saying exactly what I said, word for word.”

The woman believes Netflix should have contacted her and other victims’ relatives to see if they didn’t care about the content.

“I feel like Netflix should have asked if we would mind or how we would feel. You didn’t ask me anything. They just did that.”

Rita stated that she would not expect any monetary compensation for having her name used on the series. She believes the series should have benefited victims’ families with the money since they were so keen to explore the pain.

“If the show was of any use to them, it wouldn’t be so cruel and ruthless. It is sad that they are only making money from this tragedy. That’s just greed.”

Eric, cousin of Errol Lindsey and Rita Isbell, also took to social media to slam the production and talk about how the family was feeling.

“I don’t tell anyone what to watch. I know the true crime media is huge right now, but if you’re really curious about the victims, my family (the Isbells) are furious with this show.

Eric also pointed out that the repetition of history also makes her experience painful feelings.

“It traumatizes us over and over again, and for what? How many films/series/documentaries do we need?”.

Of the scene reenacting Rita’s presence in the courtyard, he says:

Jeffrey Dahmer’s mother claimed he was a perfectly normal kid

“To reenact my cousin having an emotional breakdown in court in front of the man who tortured and murdered her brother is insane. INSANE“.

Criticism also came from the British newspaper The Guardian, which described the series as “almost disgustingly unwatchable”.

The Hollywood Reporter called it “an irritating mix,” adding that “inflicting pain on most victims and their families is more about exploring that pain than honoring any memory.”

BBC News reached out to Netflix to ask the company to comment on the criticism, but received no response.
