Jennifer Lawrence says she worried about Robert De Niro at her wedding rehearsal dinner and told him to “go home”

  • Jennifer Lawrence said she told Robert De Niro to “go home” at their wedding rehearsal dinner.

  • She spoke to E! News about her 2019 wedding as she walked the Golden Globes red carpet on Sunday.

  • “I looked over and saw Bob — who doesn’t know anyone,” Lawrence said.

Turns out being a bride was stressful for Jennifer Lawrence, too.

The 33-year-old actor spoke to E! News about her wedding to Cooke Maroney in 2019 as she walked the Golden Globes red carpet over the weekend.

“It's so stressful, you're not having fun,” Lawrence told E! News Chief Correspondent Keltie Knight. “You just ask yourself, ‘Is this person having fun? Is everyone having fun? Are you hungry?'”

The No Hard Feelings star then shared that she invited Robert De Niro to her wedding rehearsal dinner but told him to leave when she realized he wasn't feeling too well.

“I looked over and saw Bob — who doesn’t know anyone — and he was kind of wandering around,” Lawrence said. “And I immediately said, ‘No. That's not what he wants to do. I don't want him here.'”

Although De Niro was polite and spoke to her parents, Lawrence explained that she asked the actor to leave rather than stay here.

“So I went over and whispered, 'Go home,'” she added. “And then he left, and that really made me feel better.”

Lawrence and De Niro starred in three films together: “Silver Linings Playbook” in 2012, “American Hustle” in 2013 and “Joy” in 2015.

Looking back, the star added that she was worried about the temperature and that she was “freaking out” that her guests might be cold.

“And all my friends lied – they said, 'Nobody's cold, nobody's cold, everything's fine, everything's fine,'” Lawrence said. “And my mother said, 'It's freezing out there, your grandmother almost died.'”

Lawrence married Maroney, an art gallery owner, in October 2019 in a Gilded Age mansion in Newport, Rhode Island. Their son Cy was born in February 2022.
