Selena Quintanilla was one of the most celebrated Mexican artists of the 20th century, dubbed the queen of Tejano music, a musical style that mixed Mexican and American influences and was brought into the mainstream with Selena’s music.
The singer was on the verge of worldwide fame – she became the first Tejano singer to win a Grammy in 1994 – when she was murdered by Yolanda Saldivar, the manager of her fan club and boutiques, who was discovered embezzling money from her March 1995.
Back in March, J-Lo took to Instagram to share some clips from the film and other interviews discussing the role that launched her legendary career.

“I will never forget that time in my life and it is an honor as an artist to have been a part of the magic of this film,” concluded Lopez.
