Actor Jeremy Renner has had two surgeries at a Nevada hospital after suffering serious injuries in a snow plow accident.

The Hurt Locker star is reportedly “conscious, stable and speaking” and has had surgery as part of his “long road to recovery,” according to the Extra.

Renner was ruled to be in critical but stable condition following the weekend’s Nevada snowplow accident.

“We can confirm that Jeremy suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and underwent surgery today (January 2),” Renner’s family said in a statement. “He has returned from surgery and is in critical but stable condition in intensive care.”

New details emerge as TMZ reports that about a quarter mile from his home in Nevada, Renner plowed the road to get his family out after a snow storm on New Year’s Eve.

The plow, a snow groomer, accidentally ran over one of the actor’s legs despite numerous safety precautions, resulting in major blood loss, a neighbor said, according to the outlet.

Another neighbor, a doctor, put a tourniquet on Mr. Renner’s legs until paramedics arrived. Police arrived at the scene around 8pm on Sunday night and confiscated the snowcat, which the actor has been using on social media.

In their statement, Renner’s family thanked the “Carano and Murdock families”.
