Jerrod Carmichael made a wild joke about Will Smith at the 2023 Golden Globes

OK, so Jerrod Carmichael was hosting this year’s Golden Globes ceremony, and he didn’t hold back.

During the show’s opening monologue, Jerrod revealed how much he was paid to host — apparently a cool $500,000 — and he blasted the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s story of alleged discrimination and racism into high gear.

He also made a joke about Shelly, Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige after referencing Tom Cruise’s decision to return his Golden Globes in 2021.

One of Jerrod’s jokes was definitely – I mean, almost absolutely – referring to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock onstage at the 2022 Oscars.

When the show returned from a commercial break, Jerrod said the show gave Will Smith an off-air award — specifically the Rock Hudson Award for “Best Depiction of Manhood on Television.”

Rock Hudson, if you don’t know, was an extremely famous film and television star from the 1950s until his death from an AIDS-related illness in 1985. His colleagues and Hollywood friends later claimed he was gay and that his sexual identity was an open secret in Hollywood.

So yes. Wild joke! In general, Jerrod definitely gave everyone a lot to talk about after the show ended, that’s for sure. Can’t say he didn’t actually do it. This is comedy for you!
