Jerry Jones: Woman drops paternity suit against Dallas Cowboys owner, wants DNA test

In her lawsuit, Alexandra Davis alleged that Jones paid her and her mother to keep his paternity confidential. Jones has not commented on the paternity claim, but argued in court that Davis had no standing to sue.

The motion filed by Davis’ attorneys did not contain a reason to drop the lawsuit, which had been filed in Dallas County. Davis’ legal team did not respond to a request for comment from CNN Thursday afternoon, but attorney Jay Gray told the Dallas Morning News that Davis does not retract her claim that Jones is her father.

“Alexandra has just decided that she wants to proceed with parentage and DNA testing,” Gray told the newspaper. “She wants to remove any doubt that Jerry is her father.”

A spokesman for Jones declined to comment on the dismissal of the lawsuit.

Davis withdrew the lawsuit “without prejudice,” meaning she would be able to reinstate the civil suit.

According to the lawsuit, Jones met Davis’ mother, Cynthia Davis Spencer, when she worked at an American Airlines ticket office at the airport in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The lawsuit states that Jones denied paternity but agreed to pay Davis’ mother $375,000 and set up two trust funds for Davis.

According to the lawsuit, Davis is 25 years old.

The lawsuit was initially settled, but in late March Jones’ legal team withdrew its request for a hearing to discuss the settlement of the lawsuit, adding allegations in new filings that Jones was the victim of “attempted extortion.”

Jones’ attorneys claimed that Davis offered to “make a deal” with Jones before filing the lawsuit. Defense attorneys also claimed that Jones and the Cowboys were “targets of multiple extortion attempts.”

Andrew Bergman, an attorney for Davis, told CNN at the time that he asked Jones to provide evidence of the allegations against his client.
