Jesperi Kotkaniemi and his teammates are rediscovering Fortnite

Jesperi Kotkaniemi and his teammates are rediscovering “Fortnite”.

Remember the video game “Fortnite” that took the internet by storm when it was released in 2019? Jesperi Kotkaniemi and some Carolina Hurricanes teammates are still playing there and still having as much fun as ever.

News & Observer reporter Chip Alexander recently discovered that a quartet of Canes players had found the famous battle royale game and were passing the time playing it.

So Kotkaniemi, Sebastian Aho, Brett Pesce and Seth Jarvis would form a squad with mixed talent but so entertaining. Additionally, anyone who has ever played video games with friends can relate to their comments.

“We asked ourselves what we should play. Nobody had played this game in about three and a half or four years. I played it a lot when it came out. It was fun and refreshing. Pesce persuaded us to try again, so the four of us got together. We had a lot of fun,” Aho said.

“Fortnite”, whose goal is to eliminate all other players using weapons and various gadgets, gained popularity during the lockdown and blew up several live streaming platforms such as Twitch and YouTube.

“It was something, but interest waned,” recalls Kotkaniemi. But we love playing it.”

Talentless players!

According to his teammates, Pesce would be the best player in the group. As the leader of the team, he can afford to rat out his comrades.

“Ah yeah, but these guys are pretty bad at the game, so… it doesn’t take much talent to be better than them,” the 28-year-old defender said.

Jarvis is the player who doesn’t stand out for his video game skills, nor is he the most competitive player.

“I like to talk and they get angry when I talk. It has to be quiet for them. “fishy” [Aho] shouts at me. […] “You know how competitive he is on the ice, you should see him in Fortnite,” the forward admitted.

I hope for the Hurricanes that their collaboration on the ice is healthier than in front of a screen…
