Supermodels Jessica and Ashley Hart mourn the tragic loss of mother Rae after being diagnosed with a heartbreaking neurological condition
Jessica and Ashley Hart are mourning the tragic loss of their mother Rae after she passed away suddenly on Friday.
Rae Hart, 66, died of a rare degenerative neurological disease, ALS, which damaged the central nervous system and caused progressive muscle weakness.
The supermodel sisters returned to Melbourne indefinitely last year to help their mother through medical treatment, but since Rae’s diagnosis her health has declined rapidly.

Jessica’s two children and her husband James Kirkham, former NASCAR driver, have also lived in Australia to support her and Rae.
Jessica, 36, and Ashley, 34, have referred to Rae as their rock multiple times throughout their careers.
As the sisters rose to fame, their mother was always supportive and created a strong bond between the three.

In 2015, Jessica and Ashley revealed to 60 Minutes that their mother struggled with being a single mom and moving around a lot after struggling through a troubled marriage.
Despite the move, the sisters always felt cared for, even saying that “she deserves a medal.”
According to Rae, the basic principles for getting through life were fresh sheets, fresh food, a hot shower and each other.

Jessica started modeling at the age of 14 and has become a global name through partnerships with Victoria’s Secret and Vogue.
She named her firstborn after her mother, Baby-Rae, and gave birth to a son named Glorious last year.
