Attorney General Merrick Garland on Tuesday introduced a lawsuit to block the $3.8 billion merger of JetBlue and Spirit Airlines, saying it will limit consumer choice and increase airfares.
In a few months, low-cost airline JetBlue Airways will begin operating non-stop flights from New York City to Paris.
JetBlue said in a press release that the new service is scheduled to launch on June 29. Tickets for the daily flights between John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) in New York and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) in France went on sale on Tuesday. according to the airline.

“We’re excited to continue disrupting the transatlantic market and offering business and leisure customers traveling to and from Paris the opportunity to experience our highly acclaimed mint and core products in a market that has been under the high fares of the… legacy airlines,” said JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes.

Through Thursday, U.S. passengers can purchase round-trip tickets for JetBlue’s “core” seats from JFK to CDG for just $479, the airline said. Tickets on offer for the Mint layout with reclining seats had a starting price of $1,899.

The fare offer is “valid until 3/9/23 for outbound travel 9/10-12/8/23 and return 9/17 overnight on Saturday, according to the JetBlue website.

There is also a fare offer for passengers from Paris.
The airline previously indicated in November that it had plans to add the Paris flight.

JetBlue’s unveiling of the Paris route comes approximately 18 months after the launch of its first transatlantic route, JFK to London Heathrow. Last year, non-stop flights from Boston to London were introduced.

On its website, JetBlue said that “Boston service” to Paris is “on the horizon.”
