First Lady Jill Biden discussed safe sex, condoms and dating practices during a youth empowerment event in Nairobi, Kenya.
Biden spoke on Saturday during the Shujaaz Konnect Festival, a youth empowerment event, on safe sex, condom use and birth control.
“These are issues that really all people need to talk about, and yet somehow they don’t, and the consequences of not talking about them are so bad,” Biden said after speaking about safe sex, birth control and the use of condoms had spoken case. “That’s why I love seeing the young people here.”
A tent at the event had a questionnaire intended to spark discussion, which read, “What would you say if I told you I had a condom in my pocket right now?”

“And this is the first time you’ve met?” Biden said with a laugh:
“I’m surprised you didn’t start with ‘What is your greatest achievement?’ begin. rather than ‘I have a condom in my pocket,'” Biden added.

The MTV Staying Alive Foundation and the President’s Contingency Plan for AIDS Relief partnered to host the event to teach young Kenyans how to avoid contracting HIV.

The First Lady has been to Namibia and Kenya to promote the program, in addition to another program helping women and young people acquire skills that will help them develop a business.
