Jimmy Barnes has reached an important milestone in his recovery from major surgery.

The 66-year-old rocker announced on Sunday that he can now walk up and down stairs.

The musician posted pictures of himself walking up the stairs at his home and showed off a delicious baked meal prepared by family friends.

“First day of the year and I can make it to the top of the stairs and back down,” he wrote on his social media accounts.

“Thank you, the Quilty family, for the friendly delivery of food. What a great start to the new year.”

The fans congratulated Jimmy and wished him the best in his speedy recovery.

“Keep up the good work and you’ll be back on stage doing what you do best,” wrote one follower.

“Today I walked without crutches and physio took me to the hydrotherapy pool. As many of you have advised, I will do exactly as they say,” he added.

The Working Class Man hitmaker added he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to finally fix his health issues after struggling with back pain for eight years.

When asked if he was confident of being fit enough to complete the rescheduled tour, Jimmy sounded confident.

“The hardest thing will be keeping me still for three months,” he said, laughing.

He then said his plans to write a rock ‘n’ roll album and finish a book would keep him busy “for the first two weeks” of his recovery.
