Jimmy Barnes is forced to postpone tour dates after testing positive for Covid

Jimmy Barnes has been forced to withdraw from a number of upcoming performances after testing positive for Covid.

The 66-year-old singer announced this on Instagram on Tuesday and shared a photo of two positive antigen rapid tests.

It comes just days after Jimmy announced the death of his older sister, Linda, in an undeniably difficult week for the rock star.

Jimmy explained that while his Mackay show had been postponed, he had to cancel his headlining performance at the Stranded In the Whitsundays concert on Daydream Island.

“I am sorry to inform you that I have returned two positive RATs for Covid-19. I’m not that bad so far, but I have to isolate myself for seven days,” he began.

“That means we have to reschedule this Saturday’s show in Mackay. The new date is August 27th. So please keep your tickets and thank everyone involved for the last minute change.

“Unfortunately, that also means I won’t be able to travel to Daydream Island on Thursday. The Black Sorrows and Diesel are filling in for me alongside Darryl Braithwaite and Richard Clapton so this week’s whole event will be in the beautiful Whitsundays.

He added, “Believe me, if I wasn’t contagious and could get out of bed, I’d be singing for you.”

Jimmy also issued a “sincere apology to anyone who was bothered by this,” acknowledging that many fans would be disappointed by the cancellation.

“I know you have all traveled and planned your vacation around it. I’ll make it up to you soon. Have a nice weekend up there. I know where I’d rather be,” he concluded.

Returning to Instagram on Tuesday, Jimmy shared a photo of himself sitting up in bed, while a second photo showed his wife Jane, 41, cooking him noodle soup.

“Once again, I want to thank you all for your messages of support. Day 2 I’m fine, just need to chill for a while,” he captioned the post.

While Jimmy hasn’t publicly revealed Linda’s cause of death, his brother John Swan revealed on Facebook on Friday that she had multiple sclerosis.
