Late-night TV hosts Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel surprised fans Friday night when the couple switched talk shows for April Fools’ Day jokes, with Fallon filling the desk on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” while Kimmel hosted The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The after-hours staples flew across the country to pull off the epic prank, as Fallon typically films in New York City while Kimmel resides in Hollywood.
While discussing the prank over video chat, Kimmel and Fallon revealed that they originally intended to pull off the epic April Fool’s Day 2020 switch, but were unable to due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“This is wild, but it was an amazing experience. I love that we did this. I can’t believe we made it,” Fallon told Kimmel before the pair continued to host each other’s show.

Fallon brought along his good friend Justin Timberlake, who showed up as his guest and spray-painted “I ❤️ Matt Damon” on Kimmel’s desk.
The couple also took part in one of Kimmel’s most popular segments, “Celebrity Mean Tweets,” instead highlighting “cute tweets” they’ve received on Twitter.

Over in New York, Kimmel sat down with Hugh Jackman to play the Tonight Show game Box of Lies. He also welcomed comedian Bridget Everett.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers, who released their 12th studio album Unlimited Love this week, served as the evening’s musical guests on both shows.

The two Jimmys previously collaborated on a satirical PSA to clear up the common misconception that they are the same person in the commercial for Kimmel’s show moving to Brooklyn for a week in 2019.
