There are songs that transcend the voices that sing them and voices that are bigger than the people who sing them. When Joaquin Sabina appeared on stage on Friday evening Puerto Rico Colosseum, Dressed in a vest with black and white stripes and a white round-crowned hat, his husky baritone broke the silence in the venue with the verses of “When I was Younger,” and there was no doubt that his voice has a lifelong legacy of its own .
The Spanish singer-songwriter addressed a few brief words to his audience before reciting a sonnet dedicated to Puerto Rico.

“I think it’s been about six years since we came to this amazing island and my Puerto Rican heart was already looking forward to it.” he said before performing the song “Feeling it a lot,” followed by “I deny everything.”

Sabina’s presentation was not a complex production, on the contrary, she opted for an elegant minimalism that highlighted the artist’s presence on stage in an intimate musical evening.
Accompanied by a group of musicians spread out on both sides of the stage, Sabina sat on a high chair for most of the concert, as is typical of his musical performances. A series of illustrations, videos and various images were projected onto the background of the stage and changed depending on the song.
“Pious Lies” and “Marble Tears” were the next songs, followed by “When the Cold Presses” and “On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams.” Several spectators excitedly sang some of the bohemians’ favorite songs.
Sabina was very grateful to his Puerto Rican fans and shared that before they went on stage they filled his dressing room with gifts, which he described as very moving. He also sent greetings to several fans, among whom the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter stood out. Kanye Garciawhom he sent a kiss because he couldn’t come to the concert.
For several of the next songs, Sabina sang together with members of her music group or let them take the floor entirely. This was the case with the songs “It’s raining in the wet”, “I want to be an Almodóvar girl” and “The most beautiful song in the world”.
“I’ve always been very aware that the instrument I have here isn’t the best“, said the artist with a laugh, pointing to his neck and admitting that he no longer has the record to perform some of his songs as before, before passing the microphone to his companions and taking a short break.

Upon her return, Sabina took her place, this time without the black and white vest, and sang “So young and so old,” followed by “On the Edge of the Fireplace.” The singer then went to a two-seater table, from which he recited a second sonnet and sang “A Song for Magdalena,” one of his countless hits.
Without a doubt, it was one of the most exciting moments of the evening when the first notes of Joaquín Sabina’s most famous song began to be heard. The Puerto Rican audience gave the artist their best as he sang the mega hit “19 Days and 500 Nights” from start to finish.
Emotions remained high with the songs “City Fish,” “And Yet,” “Princess” and “The Case of the Platinum Blonde.”
After the performance of the song “Contigo”, another exciting moment of the evening occurred when Sabina, after leaving the stage and returning at the request of her audience, performed the song “Wedding Nights” along with “Y nos gab last ten” in a Art sang “Medley,” which was sung by hundreds of people at the Choliseo.
Sabina ended her musical performance on the island with the song “Pastillas para no sonido” and thanked her Puerto Rican audience, who returned their gratitude with a sea of applause to the veteran and popular Andalusian singer-songwriter.
