“No one knew, but part of me thought, Oh, a lot of people had an opinion about a woman playing the Doctor, and I’m actually officially the first Doctor with two hearts, so I was totally methodical.”

Jodie didn’t make her pregnancy news public until February 2022, when she cradled her bump on the red carpet at the BRIT Awards.

She was then seen with her baby in May 2022, although she did not confirm the gender or birth date of her child.

Jodie shares two children with her husband Christian Contreras as they also welcomed a daughter in 2015, but they have never revealed her name.

Jodie also reflected on how “proud” she is to have played the Doctor as she chatted to presenters Alison Hammond and Rylan Clark on This Morning.

She said of the show: “It’s absolute joy in a box with the people, with the storylines.”

“It’s such a gift, there are no restrictions, you can be anywhere on Earth at any time or be thrown into another universe… I’ve made friends for life.” It’s a beautiful show to be a part of, and I’m so proud of it.”

Jodie previously appeared on Woman’s Hour alongside presenter Emma Barnett to chat about all things Doctor Who in celebration of Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary.

For the outing, Jodie looked sensational as she cut a fine figure on her way to the BBC Radio Studios on Thursday.

The first female Time Lord looked chic in a tailored navy blue suit, which she wore over a simple white t-shirt.

The star left her blazer jacket buttoned up and carried her essentials in a faded floral tote bag.

Staying practical, she completed the look with white sneakers while flaunting her bare ankles in the shorts.

The popular sci-fi franchise returns to screens on Saturday with the impressive anniversary milestone, which will see David Tennant reprise his role as the Doctor.

Although Jodie won’t appear in the 60th anniversary special episodes, the star made history after becoming the first female Time Lord in 2017.

She portrayed the Time Lord of the same name on the screen for four years and said goodbye to the science fiction series in her last episode in October 2022.

The series was expected to be an immediate success as it brought the series up to date with the times, but the highly anticipated episodes were consistently heavily criticized.

It was said that she struggled to live up to the hype and her potential during her tenure, as the series’ script was repeatedly criticized over the years.

But her close relationship with her companion Yaz (Mandip Gill) ensured that viewers remained glued to their screens, with the pair bonding early on as many suspected a budding romance.

Jodie recently starred alongside Bella Ramsey in the second series of the BBC series Time.

While the first season starred Stephen Graham and Sean Bean in the lead roles of a conflicted prison officer and a former teacher consumed by guilt and demons from his own past, the second season features an all-female cast and focuses in a women’s prison.
