UNITED STATES – He’s clearly not one of the “Swifties.” During the annual Thanksgiving turkey “grace” ceremony at the White House, American President Joe Biden, who celebrates his 81st birthday this Monday, November 20, joked about his age before getting tangled up with paint brushes. The names of two pop superstars: Britney Spears and Taylor Swift.
Before pardoning the two birds named Liberty and Bell, the tenant of the White House first recalled enthusiastically: “By the way, today is my birthday and the owners of the turkeys sang happy birthday to me,” said comments in the American and British press .
He then made a joke about how many candles he has blown out: “I just want you to know that being 60 is hard.” This remark, of course, made the crowd gathered around him laugh, because in 2002 the president is 60 years old.
“She’s in Brazil.”
But Joe Biden didn’t stop there and continued with his joke: “You could say it’s even harder [d’avoir 60 ans] than buying a ticket for the Renaissance tour [de Beyoncé] or Britney’s tour,” the Democrat said. “She’s in Brazil where it’s pretty hot right now,” he added.
Except that the Renaissance tour was Beyoncé’s world tour, which ended last month, recalls the British newspaper The Chron. While Britney Spears hasn’t toured for several years and is currently not in Brazil.
The American President wanted to talk about Taylor Swift, who is currently in the middle of a series of concerts as part of her The Eras Tour in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The singer, who performs in stifling temperatures, announced the death of one of her fans before one of her concerts this weekend.
This confusion comes as many Americans worry about the age of Joe Biden, a candidate running for re-election in 2024.
