The Montreal Canadiens announced the recall of veteran Joel Armia from the Laval Rocket this morning.
Armia, who received a waiver and joined the Rocket for training camp shortly before the start of the season, recorded four goals and one assist in four games with the Laval team.
The 30-year-old has been very ordinary in his last three seasons at CH. Last year he was limited to seven goals and as many assists in 43 games.
The Buffalo Sabers’ first pick in the 2011 draft is in the third year of a four-year contract that pays him a generous $3.4 million per season, a pact that was offered to him in the summer of 2021 by former Buffalo Sabers general manager Marc Bergevin .
Mesar in junior
CH also used the opportunity to announce that Slovakian prospect Filip Mesar, the team’s first-round pick in 2022, has returned to his junior club, the Kitchener Rangers, in Ontario.
The 19-year-old Mesar also started the season with the Rockets, collecting one assist in two games for the Jean-François Houle-led team. Last year with the Rangers, the good friend of Juraj Slafkovsky collected 17 goals and 34 assists in 52 games .
