Rumors sent the Canadian to Europe towards the end of last year but the 27-year-old made his choice.

After making good progress in 2022, Waterman was invited to compete at the World Cup in Qatar but was ultimately not hired by coach John Herdman. However, its profile caused a stir in Europe, with the Sportsnet broadcaster reporting corridor noise from Germany, Turkey, Austria and Greece in December.

“I am very happy to sign a new contract with the club that believed in me from the start. I have enjoyed the last three years here and will continue to do so,” he said in a statement. My role is the same as I set out to do when I arrived in the league, which I want to improve every day, both personally and with the team.

The British-Colombian was a superb catch from sporting director Olivier Renard in 2020. Coming from the Canadian Premier League, Waterman made rapid progress and played a huge role in the founding of CF Montreal last season by setting 30 personal bests.

Renard also hopes the centre-back can achieve ‘another milestone in his development’ with this new deal. An option year for 2025 is also attached to the pact.
