Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are some of the most famous actors who started working as children and they rose to fame thanks to their role as Michelle Tanner on Full House.
The Olsens starred alongside Bob Saget as Danny Tanner and John Stamos as Jesse Katsopolis for all eight seasons of the sitcom, though they almost entirely lost the role when they were 11 months old.
Speaking to Josh Peck and Ben Soffer on Monday’s episode of the Good Guys podcast, Stamos explained that on the show’s very first episode, he shared a scene with Dave Coulier, who played Joey, and was struggling to work with the twins.
“We make the scene. Joey and I changed the baby, right? And Danny’s gone and said, ‘Take care of the kids.’ ‘Yes, we have it. We’ve got it,'” he explained.
In the episode, Jesse and Joey tried to change Michelle’s diaper in the kitchen, but Mary-Kate and Ashley both cried, which made filming very difficult.
The 59-year-old star said: “So we carry the baby downstairs and take him to the kitchen and hose him down. And she screamed. Both. They wanted to be somewhere else than there.” And so did I.”
Stamos went on to say that the producers kept changing babies while promising they wouldn’t cry, which frustrated Stamos.
The actor said: “They were 11 months old and God bless them. They kept changing: ‘This one won’t cry.’ I couldn’t handle it. And I said, ‘This isn’t going to work.’ And that’s how they got rid of them. They’re bringing these two redheaded kids… I’m sure their parents loved them and found them attractive…”
“It was only a few days and I said, ‘Bring back the Olsens! These kids are terrible,'” added Stamos.
