John Tortorella leaves a player on the bench for more than 57 minutes

Philadelphia Flyers forward Joel Farabee’s game on Thursday night ended at exactly 2:42, and it wasn’t due to an injury.

The 23-year-old ice hockey player was pinned to the bench by head coach John Tortorella to make it 57:18.

“Are you asking me why I sat Joel down? “That’s because he doesn’t listen,” the pilot said during the press conference after his team’s 3-4 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

Farabee only had two ice appearances and a total of 56 seconds of playing time. He looked bad in the sequence that led to Alexander Holtz’s goal before his game was over.

The Flyers’ color carrier refused to speak to the media after the game.

This isn’t the first time Tortorella has done this with Farabee. Last February he played just under four minutes in the duel against the Calgary Flames.

In 23 games so far in the 2023-24 season, Farabee has scored eight goals and provided seven assists for 15 points. He is the Flyers’ fourth-leading scorer.
