Johnson pays Partygate fine but doesn’t quit world

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson paid the fine imposed on him by Scotland Yard for breaching antiCovid rules, which police are contesting, as part of the investigation into the socalled Partygate scandal of antiCovid breaching gatherings at Downing Street Covid Restrictions in effect between 2020 and 2021. This was announced by Downing Street, who said Johnson had offered his fullest “apology” for the incident and therefore has no intention of appealing. So did his wife Carrie SymondsJohnson. In a message entrusted to television screens, Johnson sprinkled his head with ashes in front of British citizens. “I understand the anger of many at my failure to comply with the rules put in place by the same government I lead to protect public health,” he said, with a contrite look on his face. “I sincerely acknowledge that the British public has the right to expect better,” he continued, stressing that he wanted to offer his “full apologies”.
