JoJo Siwa wasn’t invited to the 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards

JoJo Siwa says she’s “not invited” to the 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards.

“Many of you have asked me why I’m not at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards tonight and the answer is very simple,” the “Boomerang” singer said in a video clip shared to Instagram on Saturday.

“I wasn’t invited.”

Siwa, 18, who has a delicate relationship with the network, added, “I’m not sure why, but I just didn’t get an invite.”

The pop star later said on her Instagram Story that someone tagged her in a clip of her song “One Chance” being heard at the awards ceremony.

“Well my song made it, but I didn’t,” she said with what appeared to be a sarcastic laugh.

Nickelodeon did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Upon hearing the news, Siwa’s friends and fans were quick to take to social media to share their support for the “Dancing With the Stars” alum — and offer their theories about her absence.

“Your sweet loss ❤️,” Olivia Jade wrote, and Mollee Gray added, “probably because you’re the color of the rainbow and they’re only orange 😏.”

Fellow DWTS alum Brian Austin Green shared similar sentiments, writing, “F–k the kids choice awards 😂 you are too good for them.”

Other fans argued that Siwa wasn’t there because she came out as gay last year and recently chopped off her hair (and signature ponytail) to reveal a pixie cut.

“The only year @itsjojowsiwa wasn’t invited to the Kids Choice Awards was when she came out and cut her hair?????? Sus @Nickelodeon”, one person wrote what Siwa retweeted.

Another person shared a screenshot of Siwa’s retweet, expressing that the star is her “hero” for challenging the network that made her a household name.

“Obsessed with the teenage girl celebrities who take nothing from their employment network and refuse to be anything but themselves.” they write. “Being connected to a kids’ channel shouldn’t mean you have to stop being yourself.”

Siwa previously called Nickelodeon in September 2021 and claimed that the network blocked her from playing the music she recorded for the film “The J Team” on tour. Released via Paramount+, the film featured six original songs co-written by Siwa.

“These are MY songs, MY voice, MY writing. Does that seem fair???” she wrote in a series of since-deleted tweets, per Billboard. “Working for a company as a real person that’s only treated as a brand is fun until it’s not.”
