Singer Jojo Todynho responded to homophobic comments made by fellow singer Bruna Karla on a podcast in December 2021 at the 26th LGBT+ Pride Parade in São Paulo. Jojo used her speech in one of the parade’s trios to send messages of love and tolerance.

“God is love, we want love and less hate, no more killing, no more intolerance!” Jojo Todynho fired at the gospel singer.

Late last year, Bruna Karla said she refused to sing at a friend’s wedding because of his sexual orientation. The singer also advised the boy to have a relationship with “a woman full of the power of God,” reasoning that by marrying another man, the boy would “choose the way of eternal death.”

famous revolt

Following the fallout from the gospel singer’s speech, several celebrities began speaking out. Ludmilla made her dissatisfaction clear on Twitter.

That’s the kind of speech that makes my stomach turn and make me angry. People like you, who call themselves “speakers” of God, reject and hurt people all the time because of the simple fact that they are who they are! pic.twitter.com/6a761Mkk3J

Gil do Vigor also took to his social media to speak out against Bruna Karla’s statement. Taking to his Twitter, the former BBB said: “Indeed when Jesus appears someone will be ashamed and it’s not your gay friend it’s you for your biased attitude! John 14 says that God calls us friends and that the word friend is too strong to be upheld on the basis of prejudice and lack of love for others,” he wrote.

The singer Jão recalled that the gospel singer’s homophobic language was criminal.

This gospel singer’s speech on a podcast is very criminal. You can’t just say, “Oh, just ignore it, it’s their religion…” because that speech drives people crazy and kills a lot of people who start hating each other. It is blatant homophobia and should be prosecuted.

Bruna Karla, what I wish for you is liberation, what God has for your life is something He has dreamed for you. Jesus didn’t dream this for you. Just don’t get my love and respect for love you DON’T UNDERSTAND and RESPECT YOU DON’T HAVE! + https://t.co/8O1kXYphOY
