Jon Jones has pulled out of his highly anticipated heavyweight title fight against Stipe Miocic, UFC CEO Dana White announced on social media on Tuesday.

Jones was scheduled to defend the UFC heavyweight title against Miocic, the former champion, in the main event of UFC 295 on November 11 in New York. White said Jones tore a pectoral tendon during practice Monday night and required surgery, which will keep him out about eight months.

The vacant light heavyweight title fight between former champion JiYí Procházka and former middleweight titleholder Alex Pereira will now be the main attraction at Madison Square Garden. There will also be a new fight as the co-main event: Tom Aspinall vs. Sergei Pavlovich for the interim heavyweight title.

Miocic will no longer be able to compete due to the loss in the high-profile fight against Jones. It was billed as Jones, the greatest fighter in MMA history, versus Miocic, the winningest heavyweight of all time in the UFC.

Sources said the hope is to rebook Jones vs. Miocic in 2024 for a big card.
