Jon Stewart’s show on AppleTV+ was abruptly canceled

According to American media, Jon Stewart’s show on AppleTV+ is ending abruptly due to editorial disagreements between the comedian and the Californian giant.

Comedian and American talk show star Jon Stewart told his teams on Thursday that Apple officials had expressed reservations about the content of upcoming episodes of his show The Problem with Jon Stewart, reports The New York Times.

Apple, a producer and broadcaster with its streaming platform, did not respond to questions from AFP on the subject on Friday evening.

Jon Stewart changed political humor in the United States before canceling his show The Daily Show in 2015. The Problem with Jon Stewart, another weekly satirical look at current events, debuted in 2021 on AppleTV+.

But according to a source cited by The New York Times, the apple brand’s managers didn’t like the topics the host wanted to discuss in his next episodes, particularly regarding China.

Apple has been present in the country since 1993 and has become a central brand. During a recent surprise visit to China, its boss Tim Cook also spoke of the “symbiotic” relationship that his company has with the country.

The American daily also mentions a dispute over artificial intelligence (AI).
