Quebecer Jonathan Drouin had a rather complicated start to the season with the Colorado Avalanche. However, the striker seemed to find some rhythm in recent games.
Drouin had only managed one assist in his first ten games in his new jersey.
Then, in his final 19 games, without having found the panacea, Drouin scored four goals and seven assists, good for 11 points.
That improvement hasn't gone unnoticed in the Colorado team's locker room, especially by his former Halifax Mooseheads teammate Nathan MacKinnon.
“By Game 10 or 11, I felt like something clicked,” MacKinnon said, as Mile High Sports reported. He stopped being too nice and trying to fit in. [Maintenant]he just plays his [style de] Game.”
“He plays with pace and composure and doesn’t worry if he makes mistakes. This is the attitude that all players must have. But you know, especially for him lately, it seems like he's not worried about the consequences. That's how you have to play. Live with the results.”
In his last three games against the San Jose Sharks, Winnipeg Jets and Buffalo Sabres, Drouin scored four points, including a goal. He also spent more than 18 minutes on the ice in two of his three duels, which is above his average since the start of the season.
The Avalanche are having a good season as Jared Bednar's men sit atop the Central Division with 40 points and a record of 19-10-2. Mackinnon also played a part in his team's success, ranking second in the NHL scoring rankings with 47 points, five points behind the excellent Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
