In the hours after Saturday’s arrest in Manhattan of Jonathan Majors, the actor’s attorney priya Chaudhry issued a press release with some updates and explanations on what happened and stressed his client’s complete innocence. The charge on which he was arrested is indeed assault and molestation of a woman who showed signs of strangulation.
Here are the defense statements:
Jonathan Majors is completely innocent, we can prove that he was the victim of an argument with a woman he knows. We quickly assemble the evidence and present it to the District Attorney, confident that all charges will be dropped as soon as possible.
All evidence shows that Mr. Majors is completely innocent and did not in any way attack this person. Unfortunately, this incident happened when this woman was going through an emotional crisis, for which she was hospitalized yesterday. The NYPD has to make an arrest in situations like this, and that’s the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect the charges to be dropped as soon as possible.
The lawyer claims that video evidence was recorded in the vehicle in which the accident may have occurred, as well as testimonies from the driver and bystanders, and two written statements from the same woman, in which she retracts the allegations.
NYPD says they received an intervention call from a Chelsea apartment. The actor was then taken to the police station while the woman was hospitalized with minor injuries.
We will keep you updated!
