Jonathan Majors’ lawyer says they have video evidence exonerating him of attacking his girlfriend

Marvel actor Jonathan Majors’ attorney is now claiming the actor was the victim of a domestic altercation for which he was arrested.

In a statement on Sunday, Majors’ attorney Priya Chaudhry said he was “completely innocent and likely the victim of a change with a woman he knows”.

She previously said she expects the charges against the star to be dropped, citing video evidence exonerating him of attacking his girlfriend, who she claims recanted her statements.

Majors, 33, was taken into custody on Saturday morning for assault after allegedly hitting his girlfriend in a vehicle.

He was released on his own and is expected to return to a Manhattan courtroom in May.

In her statement, Chaudhry noted that her team is “quickly gathering evidence and presenting it to the district attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped shortly.”

She also said her team has video footage of the vehicle in which the alleged assault took place, testimony from the driver and others who saw and heard the alleged altercation, “and most importantly, two written statements from the woman denying the allegations.” “.

“All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is completely innocent and did not assault her in any way,” Chaudhry continued, claiming “this incident occurred because this woman was having an emotional crisis for which she was taken to hospital yesterday .

“The NYPD has to make an arrest in situations like this, and that’s the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect those charges to be dropped soon,” she said.

Chaudhry is now expected to present all of this evidence to the district attorney, who has already granted the alleged victim limited court-ordered protection.

The district attorney has requested the establishment of a full protection order, TMZ reports, citing the need for further protection by majors.

A rep for the Creed III actor also denied any wrongdoing, saying Majors “did nothing wrong” and “we look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.”

Police were called to the scene at 11:14 a.m. near the intersection of West 22nd Street and 8th Avenue in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.

“A preliminary investigation determined that a 33-year-old man was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman,” the NYPD said in a statement.

“The victim informed the police that she was attacked. Officers took the 33-year-old man into custody without incident,” read the statement sent to .

While speaking to police, the alleged victim said she and Majors got into an argument and he “attacked” her.

She claimed Majors slapped her in the face with an open hand, causing significant pain and a laceration behind her ear.

She also claimed that Majors grabbed her hand and placed his hands on her neck, causing swelling, bruising and significant pain to her neck and hand.

According to a source speaking to TMZ, the victim had visible injuries on her body, including a “cut behind her ear, redness and bruises on her face.”

The actor was immediately tied up and taken to jail as police “believed there was sufficient evidence of a probable cause.”

After the altercation, the alleged victim was taken to a local hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

Following Major’s arrest for assaulting his girlfriend, questions have been raised about his continued involvement in Marvel’s Avengers franchise — with parent company Disney being downright family-friendly.

He first appeared as Kang the Conqueror in the Disney+ television series Loki and reprized the role in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania opposite Paul Rudd.

The actor will next star in an upcoming spin-off – Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. The upcoming Marvel movie is slated for release on March 2, 2025.

The character is expected to make a reappearance in Loki season 2 and may appear in other films prior to the 2026 Secret Wars film.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been gearing up for these appearances to make Kang the next big villain the Avengers will have to face after defeating Thanos – who made half the universe disappear.

Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Cinematic, told Entertainment Weekly in February: ‘Not every movie in the ‘Infinity Saga’ focused on the Infinity Stones or Thanos and it’s going to be the same in 5 and 6.

“But we are preparing. People will get a big taste of that in Quantumania as we lead into Avengers: Secret Wars, which I’m really excited about.”

It’s unclear how much Majors has been paid or plans to be paid for its performances, but over the past decade and a half, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grossed nearly $30 billion.
