Jordan’s Prime Minister Weiter AlKhasawneh said on Monday (6) that any attempt by Israel to expel Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank would be viewed by Jordan as a “declaration of war”.

In a meeting with MPs and the speaker of the Jordanian parliament, AlKhasawneh stressed that the expulsion of Palestinians represents a “red line” for the Kingdom of Jordan.

The Jordanian leader stated that “any attempt or creation of conditions to expel Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank constitutes a red line and Jordan will consider this a declaration of war.” He stressed that all options were on the table to achieve this to address “Israeli aggression against Gaza,” including possible “regional impacts.” Israel is currently conducting its counteroffensive in Gaza after suffering attacks from the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas on October 7.

AlKhasawneh appealed to the international community and called on Europe and the United States to stop giving Israel “permission to kill Palestinian civilians.” He reiterated that the massive bombing of the Gaza Strip constituted a “flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.”

The Jordanian prime minister’s statements come on the same day that the Israeli army announced the opening of a new safe corridor to allow Gazan civilians still in the north of the Palestinian enclave to escape south as part of ground operations A terrorist attack is underway in the territory used by Hamas terrorists.

The Israeli army consolidated its control over large areas of northern Gaza by advancing from the center of the enclave to the Mediterranean coast, splitting it in two and tightening the siege on Gaza City.

Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi had already warned in October that the forced relocation of Palestinians would be seen as a “declaration of war” by the country. (With EFE agency)
