Globonews international correspondent Guga Chacra reacted this Monday afternoon (10) on his social networks to a viralized video of an interview with Jovem Pan’s political commentator Pietra Bertolazzi on the podcast “Saco Cheio”. At that time, the influencer defended that the time of the Middle Ages was better than that of democracy.
“I have a big foot in libertarianism, but at the same time I think it’s important that we have a solid Christian moral base, it wouldn’t solve so much if it were Islamic,” Jovem Pan’s communicator began to explain. Curiously, the podcast moderators asked what Pietra actually defends as a political regime:
“But why? Does God decide?” they asked. The influencer then explained, “A moral ruler based on the same Christian rule, the Middle Ages maybe.” Surprised, the moderators asked the influencer: “The Middle Ages were shit! If I got the flu, I would die,” said one of the talk show hosts.
“That was the Enlightenment that made this rhetoric about the Middle Ages very enlightening, wasn’t it? By demonizing the Middle Ages, where the West and Europe were largely dominated in a good sense by Christian values, by demonizing the Church, they managed to revolutionize it,” said Pietra Bertolazi.
GloboNews commentator Guga Chacra if Upon coming across the video, he fired criticism at the Jovem Pan political commentator: “The interviewee (I don’t know the name and I’d rather not know) nominally defended that the Middle Ages were better than democracy. Worse, it’s still trying to do an intellectual style. I think it would go well with the regimes of Iran, Saudi Arabia and even the Taliban,” said the Rede Globo political journalist.
Commenting on the post, netizens reflected, “I miss seeing people actually feel ashamed of their own ignorance. I don’t even have the strength to be shocked. It’s over,” said one netizen. “She doesn’t even know what she’s talking about!!! Talking about the Enlightenment that demonized the Middle Ages,” believes another.
