Joy is heavenly: Rimenses beats up Unión Comercio

Sporting Cristal threw a goal party in Tarapoto after beating Unión Comercio 6-1 on day two of the Apertura tournament. The teams led by Tiago Nunes returned to victory in the first division after five games in a row.

The Río team needed less than a minute after the start of the game to reduce the deficit to 0-0 thanks to an own goal from Hervé Kambou, who scored his own goal after trying to save a cross João Grimaldo.

However, it didn’t take long for the host to reply Oscar Barreto showed up at 10 a.m. to score the tie. The Mighty of Alto Mayo midfielder capitalized on a defensive mistake by the sky blue team to get to the edge of the box and set the ball in the middle of the goal.

The equalizer lasted seconds before half-time, after Alejandro Hohberg scored the interim 2-1 at 45+1 with a shot in front of the goal.

The second half was a goal fest from Sporting Cristal. In the 62nd minute, Brenner Marlos appeared to put the Skyblues up for the third goal with a deflected shot Jesus Arismendi.

In the 72nd minute, Hohberg secured his brace with a superb shot from outside the box, while Leandro Sosa increased Rimense’s lead in the 82nd minute.

As if that wasn’t enough, Alejandro Hohberg was rediscovered with the goal after ten games (seven for the Apertura tournament and three for the Copa Libertadores).

“I think we started very well and the first goal helped us to be calmer on the field. It was a great win.” It’s notorious that we made a move, nothing happened, and little by little we gained confidence through the conversation, so games like today’s will help us a lot,” Hohberg said afterwards the game.

With this result, the Bajo Pontino team is in fifth place in the Apertura with 22 points and will look to improve its lead when it visits the Binational next Wednesday. On the other hand, Unión Comercio has gone four straight games without a win and sits in 16th place with 14 points.
