Dominican singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra tested positive for Covid-19 after passing through the island, where at 4.40am he wowed thousands of Puerto Ricans and met with Governor Pedro Pierluisi, whom he gave a big hug.
“Dear friends from Miami, I would like to inform you that this morning, due to some ailments in my body, I decided to have a COVID test and it came out positive, for which reason we are forced to postpone the concert scheduled for this Saturday on April 30th at FTX Arena!” the singer said in a video posted to his social media.
Three days ago, Governor Pierluisi published a photo in which he hugged the singer after attending the concert he was giving this Saturday.
“Great concert @juanluisguerra! Thank you for giving us the music that has accompanied us in so many moments with family and friends over the years. Puerto Rico always welcomes you with open arms and ready to dance! #SoldOut,” Pierluisi wrote alongside a photo with the singer.
The Dominican and his band filled the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum with bachata where there was no room for a soul.
Now the artist has to cancel the next stop on his tour.
“The new date is Friday the 13th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. I look forward to seeing you and continuing the party!! Healthy in the name of Jesus!! A big hug and blessings!!” he said.
