Julia Roberts has revealed why she hasn’t starred in a rom-com in the last two decades.
The Oscar winner admitted the move was a conscious decision on her part, simply because she didn’t find anything “good enough”.
During an interview with The New York Times Magazine, Roberts said that “sometimes people misinterpret time that has passed” because she “don’t want” to do a romantic comedy.
“If I read something that I thought was written at ‘Notting Hill’ level or ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ was fun, I would,” she explained.
“They didn’t exist until this movie that I just did (Ticket to Paradise) that Ol Parker wrote and directed.”

During the interview, Roberts, 54, said her family is another reason she thinks twice before taking on a screen project.
“Here’s the thing: if I thought something was good enough, I would have done it,” she continued.
“But I’ve also had three children in the last 18 years. That raises the bar even higher, because then it’s not just about “Is the material good?”. It is also the mathematical equation of my husband’s work schedule and the children’s school schedule and summer vacations.”
“It’s not just, ‘Oh, I think I want to do this.’ I’m very proud to be home with my family and consider myself a housewife,” she added.
Additionally, Roberts admitted a “sense of responsibility” for “showing my kids that I can be creative and that it matters to me — so meaningful that at times I’ll choose to focus almost more on it than on.” my family who made it difficult for me to come to terms with it.”
