Last week, Julie’s daughter, Savannah, shared an insight into her mother’s prison struggles on her podcast, explaining that the matriarch was “scared” but preoccupied with “classes.”

Todd and Julie are also parents to son Chase, 26, and Grayson, 16, while Todd also shares daughter Lindsie, 33, and son Kyle, 31, with his ex-wife Teresa Terry.

In 2016, Todd and Julie gained custody of their son Kyle’s daughter Chloe, 10, with his ex Angela Johnson.

Custody was handed over to Savannah when her parents went to jail – something the 25-year-old is struggling with, the insider added.

“Savannah is just not coping well with being a mom to Chloe and her brother Grayson,” they shared.

Savannah – who was recently kicked off a Southwest flight for “unruly” behavior – spoke at length about Julie’s situation in her latest Unlocked podcast.

The couple’s daughter, Savannah, 25, opened up about her mother’s prison struggles in a podcast episode last week, admitting Julie is “scared” but preoccupied with “teaching.”

She said that Julie sent her home from a prison visit with “30 to 40 days’ worth of letters,” adding that it was “like her daily diary.”

“It was a lot to read, it was hard to see the accounts of her day and just things that she’s scared of or nervous about or just all the thoughts that are going through her head,” Savannah explained.

Savannah has visited both Todd and Julie since their January surrender, saying her mother “takes classes” to pass the time.

‘She’s just busy. You know, she’s trying to do anything and everything, take classes – everything that’s known to people that she can do, she does.

Savannah added that she believes her mother tried to “shield” her children “from a lot of things” regarding their legal woes to protect them.

She told her listeners, “It’s hard, it’s extreme…” as she discussed her newfound role as caregiver to her teenage brother and niece.

“I help raise my 10-year-old sister and 16-year-old brother, and I try to date,” Savannah joked.

“And I’m like, ‘What are you doing with them?'” she admitted. “The 16-year-old drives and stuff, but the 10-year-old says to me, ‘You might have to go out to dinner with me.'”

On a Jan. 5 episode of Julie and Todd’s former podcast, Chrisley Confessions, Julie seemed hopeful as she discussed her impending jail time.

“I think it puts things into perspective for me because we all think our toughness is the hardest thing,” she said.

“It was such a powerhouse for me because I wasn’t usually a screamer and this whole experience really brought me to my knees.

“There is a possibility that my husband will be separated from me. But there is a difference between my husband and I being separated for a period of time and having to say goodbye forever.”

Todd and Julie were found guilty of bank fraud and tax evasion, as well as filing false documents with banks to take out loans allegedly more than $30 million to fund their opulent lifestyle.

They were charged in 2019. After a lengthy trial, they were convicted of ten counts of fraud in June 2022. They were convicted by a 10-person jury in June 2022.

They received their verdicts in November 2022 — and then quickly watched their reality TV empire collapse.

Her TV show Chrisley Knows Best, as well as the spin-off Growing Up Chrisley, was ripped off the air by the US broadcaster. For many years, the show served as a platform to boast about her boisterous lifestyle.

As he went through the process, Todd said, “A year from now we’re probably spending $300,000 a year, probably more, on clothes. I approve of every piece of clothing our children wear.”

Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison and Julie to seven, both also receiving 16 months probation after their release.
