Jung Kook joins Global Citizen Festival lineup

BTS’s Jung Kook will make his solo debut on the Global Citizen Festival stage in the 2023 edition, joining a lineup that also includes previously announced headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lauryn Hill, Anitta, Megan Thee Stallion, Stray Kids, Conan Gray and more include.

The Global Citizen Festival, taking place September 23 in New York’s Central Park, is a free, ticketed, livestreamed event that drives urgent action to end extreme poverty by calling on world leaders to… Addressing the issue along with the climate crisis and justice for women and girls.

In a statement, Jung Kook said: “I’m thrilled to be headlining this year’s Global Citizen Festival! The festival shines light on important causes and drives action, and I’m excited to be a part of it. I can’t wait to perform in front of a crowd at the Great Lawn in Central Park.”

Jung Kook previously performed as part of BTS at the international advocacy festival in 2021 and also shared the stage with Coldplay. His participation also follows his first solo single outside of BTS, “Seven (feat. Latto),” which debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

Also on the program this year are DJ D-Nice and singer and actress Sofia Carson. Other celebrities set to take part in this year’s campaign include Busy Philipps, Bill Nye, Carmelo Anthony, Common, Gayle King, Jordan Fisher and Sophia Bush.

Tickets to the show are free but require participation in Global Citizen’s advocacy campaign (more information can be found here).
