Júnior releases the first video of his solo career on Fantástico
His career has spanned 34 years, but this is the first time Junior has walked this path alone. In 2019, he and his sister Sandy got together to celebrate their 30th career anniversary and the desire to release solo works arose.
“Throughout the whole process, there at the shows, I felt like I was distant from myself. And then, you know, that feeling of ‘Wow, that’s me. I am a pop artist. I can’t.” “Get away from pop music. I had stopped dancing a long time ago after not dancing for years. And that gave me so much joy,” he says Fantastic.
This Sunday (29) he released the first 10 songs of this work and reveals that he was involved in the composition and production of all the tracks on the album. But it was a long way to get to your own project.
After the duo ended, Junior took part in several projects. He expanded his activities as a musician and multiinstrumentalist. He played drums in a rock band, made projects on the Internet, electronic music…
“They were things that brought me joy, but deep down they left a certain emptiness. I understood that on the tour,” says the singer.
For Junior it was clear: it was time to publish his first solo work. But the dream had to be given up because of the pandemic. During this period of isolation, his father, also singer Xororó, sent a song that would give Junior new meaning.
“I changed it and transformed it. It came into the repertoire and really touched me. I said, ‘Wow, that’s good. These lyrics reflect exactly everything I felt,’” he recalls.
It was another year of the creative process, weeks in the studio, nights of composing, hours of rehearsals. The final product has finally arrived.
“It’s danceable pop, with quieter, more introspective, more melancholic moments. And very happy moments, with a lot of pulse, big beats. Maybe nothing too obvious, maybe not for me. I like to break expectations a little. And that’s all.” “I’m very happy, man,” he reveals.
The album is of course the result of a lot of work, but also a maturing process on the part of the artist.
“Singing was something I stayed away from for many years because I had problems with it. And difficulty dealing with it. I think I experienced a lot of criticism as a child and believed a lot of it. I think that throughout this whole process I have overcome several barriers that I had, including as a singer. I see it as an act of courage, you know? Do that”
This Sunday (29) he released the first 10 songs from this work. He was involved in the composition and production of all tracks on the album.
Junior guarantees that in addition to this solo work, he already has material ready for 2024. “I decided to split it into two moments. So half now and the other half in the first half of next year, the first semester,” he says.
After that, the singer is planning a tour. “I can’t stand this silence in my life anymore, understand? I need this hustle and bustle,” he adds.
